        Hello. Very interesting question!

        This depends on what form we use the enzyme in. You can either purify an enzyme, and add only the purified enzyme to the reaction or you can lyse (split open the cells so that the enzyme is released) the bacteria that you used to make the enzyme and put the lysate into your reaction. In the first instance, there shouldnt be any other enzymes in the reaction, so the answer to your question is no. However if you use the lysate, it is possible that another enzyme could interfere. To check this, we often run a control experiment using everything apart from NovO – this way we can check for any background results that could affect our data.
