I like my work but where I think I can inspire is by visiting schools and demonstrating the cool and exciting chemistry experiments which got me excited about science. I do this as often as I can and in the last year have demonstrated experiments to about 1000 pupils in and around the city of Aberdeen.
I don’t think I have the reach to inspire the whole world, I would have to be incredibly well known to do so. But I would like to think that I inspire the people in my life. My mum actually gets really excited about my research and asks me about it – at least I’ve inspired one person!
I have been to science festivals before, and I when I am there I show everyone I speak to how passionate I am about what I do. I also have exciting demonstrations of chemistry, everyone loves a good explosion!
