I wouldn’t say I’ve done a lot to get publicity. I frequently try and share research results by writing my results for other to read or going and giving presentations but I would say this is publicity in the traditional sense. I do find that I get publicity by accident – particularly when engaging with schools because universities really like to promote that side work.

Going to conferences is a a great way to get your name out into the scientific community. Although I have not yet presented at a conference, I have been lucky enough to go to a few and talk with other people researching similar things and tell people about my own research on an informal basis.
Other than that publishing papers is a major way scientists try to publicise themselves – at the moment I’m working on my first publication 🙂

Being involved in various Outreach activities at museums etc can often lead to publicity, which is what I have done in the past.
Having your name on a scientific paper can also lead to publicity, if it is an important paper. I currently have my name on two papers, and am working towards writing my own paper this year 🙂

I have taken part in a few public events, including Cheltenham Science Festival, where I did some demonstrations with some of my colleagues, and I recently took part in FameLab, which is a sort of X factor for scientists. Of course, I don’t really want publicity for myself, I want publicity for my science.

I am not very sure whether i need any publicity. Whatever i have been doing (Research) will speak for itself. However i am a STEM ambassador, so i am planning to visit some schools to promote science. Haven’t done something yet. Its been 1y since i joined here, so will start soon.
