Question: what makes a good chemical catalyst

Great question – so a good catalyst should be cheap to make, work at low temperature/pressure (i.e., use less energy and work under safe conditions), make less unwanted chemicals (i.e., does not produce any waste) and ideally last a long long time. I think that summarises my idea of a good catalyst!
