I don’t i’ll ever be as famous as say an actor or a musician. But one day I hope to known within the science community for conducting high quality research and coming up with solutions on how chemistry can be used to make the world better.
Hmm, no I don’t think so. Even Nobel prize-winning scientists don’t end up being as famous as pop stars or actors. It is possible to become well known to the public as a science communicator, such as Brian Cox.
Becoming a celebrity is not the motivation for me to become a scientist. I guess it is the same for all the scientists. The motivation is to get the pleasure of finding new things, pleasure of understanding things, the pleasure of explaining things to others. My ultimate pleasure is when i hear “aha” from the students when i explain the scientific reason behind a day-to-day observation, that is worth millions :). I am not sure whether i want to be famous or not, forget about whether i will become or not. 🙂
No, unless I get discovered as a brilliant musician or something! It would be nice to be able to become famous as a scientist, such as being a scientific presenter or journalist on TV. I think that would be the only way I would ever realistically become famous, as even if I discover something amazing and win a Nobel Prize, not many become famous.
I don’t think I’ll ever be famous. All I want is to be respected as a scientist within my field of research and do some good science that has a positive impact on our world. Whether others think this is fame worthy is for them to decide!
